I downloaded willowtree today, and the first time I downloaded it, it opened fine. It just wouldn't open the save file. So I closed it. (I may have deleted a Data folder containing a folder called xml, if thats the problem). Now willowtree wont even open it just says willow tree has stopped working. Ive looked at a lot of topics on this, and none of the fixes are working and some things are simply too hard to understand. Help me

You must have the Data folder and all the files in it.  Without them WillowTree# will not work.  Re-extract the files from the zip archive.  The Data folder should be located in the same folder as the WillowTree#.exe executable file and the DLL files that are used by WT#.

Make sure you install Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 service pack 1 if it is not already installed on your computer because WillowTree# requires it:

    http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?displaylang=en&id=22

If you are trying to open Xbox savegames WT# 2.2.1.102 can crash if you don't have an internet connection available.  If you do have an internet connection available then it will work fine.  This is due to a bug in the update check of the X360.DLL third-party library used to write Xbox packages.  The bug can be fixed by downloading a replacement for X360.DLL from the "x360lib" folder in the files area.  Instructions are on the page:

    http://sourceforge.net/projects/willowtree/files/x360lib/

The new version of x360.dll is already included in all the experimental revisions so this is not needed, but it is needed for the current release version 2.2.1.102.

If you have the NET framework 3.5 SP1 installed and A) you are not opening or writing savegames written on Xbox, B) you have an internet connection available and WT# can access it, or C) you have installed the x360.dll replacement then you should be able to load your savegame.  If you cannot then your save is likely corrupt.  Just because Borderlands lets you open the savegame doesn't mean it isn't corrupt.  I can test it and tell you whether it is corrupt or not and repair it if possible if you email it as an attachment to me at matt911@users.sf.net.

I have the data folder, it originally had a folder called xml, it doesnt now. I have a good internet connection. It opened the first time so I must already have the 3.5 .NET framework pack. So then what is the problem?

If you post your problem and all information related to it in one thread instead of two different threads it is much easier both for me to help you and for other people to follow later on.   I told you what you should do in the other thread where you provided a copy of the Windows event log.  The error you are receiving is not typical and the event log from WT# 2.2.1.102 is not sufficient for me to figure out exactly what is causing the problem.   It is most likely user error in installing WT#, not having proper access to the folder it is installed in, not having the dll libraries in the folder with WillowTree#, not having NET Framework 3.5 service pack 1 or something of that nature.

Download experimental revision 2.2.1.212 from the experimental files area and extract it in a different folder, run it, and paste the contents of WillowTree#.log here after it crashes and I hope I can tell you exactly why it is crashing.  If it does not crash and you just can't open your savegame then you'll have to email a copy of the savegame to me at matt911@users.sf.net and I will test it to see why it is failing and repair it if possible.  That would be most likely a corrupt savegame issue not a problem with WT#.

    http://sourceforge.net/projects/willowtree/files/experimental

The file you need is called WillowTree#-2.2.1.212-experimental.zip.

This is what pops up everytime I try and open the experimental program. It doesnt produce an error report in the event log.

    Also this I think:

WillowTree# Terminated Due to Unhandled Exception

    System.Xml.XmlException: Root element is missing.

The first thing you posted shows what the error is.  The program is not able to access Echos.ini in the Data folder.  This is because WillowTree# is not being extracted properly so it can't find Echos.ini.  Looking at the path it is using it appears to have a random selection of letters and characters like might happen when you try to run a file from inside a zip folder instead of properly extracting the entire contents of the ZIP file to a folder on your computer before running it.

Make a new folder in your My Documents folder, call it whatever you like, extract the entire contents of the ZIP archive to it with your ZIP archive tool.  Download WinZip (shareware), JZip (freeware), or 7-Zip (open source freeware) if you do not have such a tool.  Enter that folder with the Windows Explorer (My Computer) and run WillowTree#.exe.
