This is related to a bug in the X360.DLL library file that WT# uses.  There is a new version available at

    http://skunkiebutt.com/X360%20DLL.zip

Download the zip file and replace x360.dll in your willowtree folder with the one in the zip file.  This problem effects users that attempt to open Xbox saves when they don't have internet access available (or they blocked it with their firewall) because X360.DLL has some kind of version check in it.

You will have to be more specific about your problem when you say "it doesn't work at all".

What message are you getting exactly when you try to save?

Make sure you have write access to the file and folder you are trying to save to and make sure the file isn't already opened by another program at the same time.

    Some tests:

    1) Play Borderlands and save game  Load savegame in WT#  Save savegame without changing anything.  Does it save?  If it saves, load the save in Borderlands.  Does it load properly (character is the right level and didn't have to start over in Fyrestone)?

    If yes, WillowTree# is working.

    2) Repeat step 1 and change your backpack slots.  Be sure you aren't forgetting to click save to save the savegame after you make your changes.  Again try to load in Borderlands.  Tell me what happens that makes you believe it did not work.  Did you spawn at the start of the game back in Fyrestone with a new character instead of your original?  Did the game show your game as Invalid in the savegame list?  Did the game crash?  Did it load properly but just appear not to have increased your backpack space?

If #1 passed and #2 did not pass you probably will have to provide a copy of the savegame file for me to be able to diagnose and repair the problem if there is one.

Note that there are two sizes you can change.  One is bank space and one is backpack space.  Check to make sure you are changing the right one.  The bank space is the one you see when you open your personal vault in Mad Moxxi's place in DLC2.  The backpack space is the number you see when you open your inventory.

I try to open Willow Tree and it keeps saying ".NET Framework Initialization  Error" "C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.5072\mscorwks.dll could not be loaded"

WillowTree# uses MIcrosoft .NET Framework 3.5 service pack 1.  You must have it installed for WT# to work properly.  If it is missing or damaged WT# will not work properly.

You need to go to Microsoft's website and download and install NET Framework 3.5 SP1 or get it through Windows Update.  Here is a link to Microsoft's download page:

i know this is a little late in the game, but i use willow tree to mod my file and use horizon to inject it back, but my borderlands copy says "you cannot use a character with the same name as someone else. please select another character." why does it do this if i only have one character?
sorry it says i cant use the same samed character as another player. what do ido?

I'm sorry I've never heard of your problem before Arthur, but I googled for it and I found this thread:

    http://www.thetechgame.com/Archives/t=3540664/cannot-choose-the-same-saved-character-as-another-player.html

In the thread one guy tells another guy that if you do not name your savegame properly this happens. The other guy checks the name of his savegame and that fixes his problem.

The name of the xbox savegame package file is typically Save0001.sav. If you open Save0001.sav in Horizon->Tools->Package Manager then view its contents by clicking on Contents it should have one file stored inside the package that is named SaveGame.sav. If the name of either the package file or the internal file stored in it is incorrect then it will not work. The SaveGame.sav file is actually a PS3 format savegame as far as WillowTree# is concerned and if you open Save0001.sav in WillowTree# it will be recognized as an Xbox savegame.

Perhaps you are not using Horizon correctly. There are a lot of videos for Borderlands modding on YouTube.com, but unfortunately many of them are old and don't show WillowTree# or Horizon as they exist today. Here is one that was done a few weeks ago that seems to show the steps you need. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Soj1hyjgF8 . Watch it and maybe you can figure out what you are not doing correctly.
