Ive ran into the problem that the .SAV i will try to load will not actually load. I get an error message saying "could not open save" and ive tried multiple things trying to fix this problem(including making a new save file, making WT# not "Read only", putting WT# into a file on my desktop.) I don't know what else to do. I am on ps3

Make sure you have extracted all the WT# files into a folder that the user has read and write access to. A subfolder of your desktop should work fine.

Make sure your computer has NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 installed. If you have Windows 8 you will need to turn on NET Framework 3.5 in the control panel in the Programs and Features -> Turn Windows features on or off -> Net Framework 3.5. In Windows XP or Vista you will need to install it if you haven't already: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=22. It would be a good idea to run Windows Update after installing it to get any further security updates.

Note that version 3.5 service pack 1 specifically is required. NET Framework 4.0 or 4.5 will not work. They are different families of the NET Framework product that can be installed safely on your computer at the same time as 3.5 SP1.

If this doesn't resolve any problem you are having then you should try to make a new character and see if you can open its savegame in WT#. This would rule out the possibility that your save is corrupt.

If that doesn't help I recommend you download the latest experimental revision from the experimental folder in the files area: http://sourceforge.net/projects/files/willowtree/experimental.

The latest experimental version along with more features has better error reporting so it will produce error reports or give error messages that are more helpful to determining the problem than the simple "Can't load" message that you get for any type of error in version 2.2.1.102. It can also repair some types of corruption in the save that won't prevent the Borderlands game from loading your save but which version 2.2.1.102 will not load because it recognizes that the file is corrupt and it can convert Steam savegames to and from PS3 or Xbox, which you can't do in version 2.2.1.102.

One last thing, WT# 2.2.1.102 does not work with shared folders in Mac Parallels. It might work with it in the experimental version. I tried to make a workaround for the bug in Parallels but I haven't received any report of whether that fixed the problem or not.

I followed all that, and still I am not able to open my saved games ".sav"

I am on windows 8 and I installed the experimental version. I also installed those 2 updates aimed at Net framework 3.5 that was released last month.

As far as Net Framework 3.5.1, I followed that links that explained how to install it through the command prompt via windows 8 dvd. It said successful. However, Net Framework 3.5.1 is not listed in the control panel.

EDIT - I have found out my error through extensive searching. Thanks.

You've edited the forum message already so it doesn't reflect what the error was but where it said the file is not a WSG that means that the first three letters of the file are not the characters 'WSG' so you were opening a file that was either completely corrupted or it was not a Borderlands save file. WT# does not work on Borderlands 2 save files at all.

Xbox 360 save files would start with the letters CON but would have the letters WSG after the headers. If you were to extract the SAVEGAME.SAV file from inside the CON file it would be identical to a PS3 save file and start with the letters 'WSG'.
