i have a problem opening an xbox360 save in willowtree (latest release  2.2.1.102 i believe). I can open other save files. i have not changed this file in any way before. Also i can open my friends save ( we ran through together so are at same level, have done the same quests etc.)  i tried unequipping everything/moving location to force a new save and it didnt help. I downloaded an experimental version (r 164 i believe) as i noticed it had "Modified error handling"  and instead it gives this error http://pastebin.com/BhEruNnA

any help resolving this would be much appreciated

Honestly I have no idea how that particular error can happen looking at the error message and the source code involved in the ReadQuests method.  The only arithmetic functions I see are adding one to a counter each time a quest is read.  You'll have to email a copy of the savegame to me for me to analyze.  I'm guessing that the problem is that your savegame file is corrupted, but I might be able to repair it manually with a hex editor given my knowledge of the Borderlands savegame format.

My email address is matt911@users.sf.net.  Attach the savegame to an email or upload it to some kind of filesharing service and send me a link.

im sorry to say that i seem to have deleted the file in question. I decided to recreate my save file using WT# to export/import data from my friends file. That along with what i could access ingame allowed me to pretty much recreate my save barring challenges. The new save seems to work fine and allows me to edit it in willowtree. Your conclusion of a corrupted save seems most likely. Sorry i could not upload the file for analysis. Thanks for your time.

I seem to be having the same exact problem. I try to open the savegame and I get the "Could not open save" error. I haven't used WT# in a little over a month, but I've played some Borderlands from time to time. I was successfully using WT# before, so I'm not sure what changed with my savegame.

I tried another savegame which worked successfully, and I've even re-opened the original and close out of the game on my Xbox 360 and it still gives me the issue. I'm using Xtaf ver. 44 to extract the savegame and I'm using WT# 2.2.1.102.

I'd love some help with this if you can spare the time. Thanks!

If you can load and save any of your Xbox savegames at all then WillowTree# is installed and working properly.   The problem is most likely with the savegame file containing what appears to WillowTree# to be corrupt data if it is limited to one character.

If you want to email a copy of the savegame to me at matt911@users.sf.net I will look at it and figure out the problem and repair it if possible.  My guess is that your savegame file contains corrupt data and that is why it isn't being read correctly, but its possible that there is a bug somewhere in WillowTree#..  Only by examination of the savegame file will I be able to tell.

There was another person last year that had a problem loading one of his saves and it turned out that somehow two items had gotten merged (the end of one was overwritten by the start of another) into one through unknown means, possibly by turning off the console while the game was in the process of saving.  Once someone had what WillowTree# recognized as an invalid playthrough count, but I've never had another report of that out of tens of thousands of people who have downloaded  WillowTree# so I don't think that bug was caused by WillowTree#.

I saw a lot of reports of Xbox 360 savegame corruption in Borderlands related to friends playing together in co-op mode when I did some searching for info.   It seemed to be that the host's game would get corrupted but the friend's would not.  The developers may have fixed this bug sometime after release in one of the updates, but people who have not updated their Borderlands to the latest version probably will run into this problem if they are playing co-op.  I strongly suggest updating your version through Xbox Live if you are having any kind of problems related to corrupt savegames and make periodic backups of your characters.
