I'm using Vista on my computer and I've already installed the 3.5 NET framework, but it will still not even open, just immediately close and give me an error.

    Description:
      Stopped working

    Problem signature:
      Problem Event Name: CLR20r3
      Problem Signature 01: willowtree#.exe
      Problem Signature 02: 2.2.1.0
      Problem Signature 03: 4ff74111
      Problem Signature 04: WillowTree#
      Problem Signature 05: 2.2.1.0
      Problem Signature 06: 4ff74111
      Problem Signature 07: 217
      Problem Signature 08: b
      Problem Signature 09: System.TypeInitialization
      OS Version: 6.0.6001.2.1.0.768.3
      Locale ID: 1033

Any ideas? I've tried using the latest version, and a couple of the beta versions but they all fail.

This is an error that I've not seen before.  System.TypeInitialization means that a static class that is being initialized before the main program execution starts is experiencing an error (exception).  Unfortunately I don't know how to interpret the problem signature lines 03, 06, 07, or 08 so I don't know if they help pinpoint what specifically is causing the problem.

A common type of failure one person might get that other people do not might be an access denied exception.  You could try to run WillowTree# as an administrator to see if the problem is a user access problem caused by the user not having adequate rights to run some part of the NET Framework that is normally available to normal users.  To do so, just right click on the WillowTree# executable file and select Run as Administrator.

If its not a simple access issue, its possible that something is corrupt in your NET Framework install.  WillowTree# requires NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1.  You may try to download and run the NET Framework Setup Verification Tool to test and make sure NET Framework 3.5 SP1 is properly installed.  You can find a link to the tool here:

    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/astebner/archive/2008/10/13/8999004.aspx

If you can't get it to work running as administrator and the NET Framework Verification Tool reports that your NET Framework 3.5 SP1 is installed properly, then please tell me whether you are using a 32-bit or 64-bit version of Windows Vista.

Also, please tell me if you are running in a virtual machine since I have had reports of people on Mac being unable to run WillowTree# in Parallels.
