Possible bug: Colorize Lists doesn't give the proper color for the new legendary weapons in GOTY Edition

I recently got one of the new legendaries introduced in Borderlands GOTY Edition, "Sucker Punch". I have 'Colorize Lists' enabled in the settings. However, when looking at the Sucker Punch's entry in my inventory, it is colored as green, when it should be orange as it is a legendary. Is this a bug or intended behavior?

This is on v2.3.0.293. Screenshot is attached.

Its not intended behavior but it is expected behavior. The initial support for Borderlands Enhanced savegames only fixes the loading and saving of enhanced savegames. The stats of items including their rarity, item level bonuses or penalties, and stat bonuses and penalties are computed by adding the known modifiers of the all the parts of the weapon up. There is no data for the new parts in the willowtree configuration files yet so if you place them in an item willowtree will not know what effect they have on it. Those unknown parts also don't appear in the parts selector for you to select.

There are even some older parts, mostly custom weapons base parts I think from special weapons, that never had their full stats put into the database because they were references to other parts and the tool used to extract the data many years ago did not understand and properly follow the references to discover the stats. I haven't gotten around to seeing if the data extraction tool can work on the new Borderlands unreal packages yet. If you loot an item with an unknown part on it, WT# can duplicate it, transfer it, or let you change the parts on it but it won't be able to figure out the proper stats for the item including its rarity which determines the color. Probably one part on the item has a rarity bonus of 50 or more which upgrades the color of the item in Borderlands, but WT# doesn't know that.

I hope to look into the data tool I used to extract some of the missing item data for WT# with in the distant past in the next week, but I dont know yet if it will even work with the newer upk packages used in this new version so no promises as to whether I will be able to actually fix this issue or not. The custom weapons haven't been giving proper stats for 8+ years and I never got around to getting the missing item data to fix them. I haven't even played Borderlands for many years, so I'm not going to invest unlimited amounts of time into it, but I will see what I can do with a reasonable amount of effort.

I see. Thanks for the info. Not a big deal though. As long as I can copy them onto my other characters. Thanks for your work on the save editor.

Just an update here. I'm still working on this. I'm trying to get all the missing data into WillowTree# so that it can more properly display names and stats of new items and old items that had part data missing in the database. I couldn't find the final version of the tool I had originally written specifically to extract particular data items from Borderlands, so I'm having to rewrite it and that's taking time. My code for interfacing with Unreal packages needed some minor tweaks to work with the new version of Borderlands, but I think its mostly working now and its just a matter of writing some parsers for specific data structures to make sure I get all the relevant bits of info into a format that WillowTree# can use. I'm not sure how much longer that will take. I hope only a few more days, but its hard to judge what other difficulties I may run into and how much free time I'll have to devote to it.

          That's great to hear!

While you're at it, I'm hoping whatever change you make also fixes the bug that's causing any edits to the new GOTY edition items to make them simply vanish. I can't change the Silent Night that I found at all, without it just disappearing from my inventory forever. Duplicating it works, but changing it at all is no good.

Thank goodness WillowTree automatically backs up saves!

I don't believe it is a bug in WT# that is causing some edited items to vanish. That is what happens to items that the game has decided are not valid. The item requirements of a small number of items -- mostly unique ones I think -- have tightened up in the new enhanced version. so they don't accept as many parts as they used to in classic Borderlands. An example of this would be The Dove unique repeater pistol. Most of the parts were fixed but in Borderlands classic it could spawn with or be edited to have all the same accessories as a generic repeater pistol, but in the new enhanced version it will only accept the acc_none accessory. If you import a savegame into Borderlands enhanced with a legit drop that you looted in Borderlands classic but it happens to have one of the parts that is now no longer allowed on the unique weapon, the weapon will disappear without any editing of your savegame at all.

Ohhh, OK. That makes sense. I do recall having non-legendaries vanish when I edit them too heavily. It's just that I was able to get them back by re-editing the item back to it's original parts. That didn't work with the GOTY legendaries, which is what made me think there was something extra special about them that WT# wasn't handling properly.

I believe this should be fixed now in revision 2.4.0.305. You didn't provide the actual parts list for the weapon you were saying had the improper colorization by selecting it in your screenhot so I can't be certain, but the new parts data has been added to WT# so it should be better able to properly colorize items. I've repaired all colorization and naming issues that I am aware of. If you still notice any issues, please let me know. Sorry this ended up taking much longer than I expected it to take but I believe WT# has improved a great deal in its ability to properly name and colorize a number of items including new items added to the Borderlands enhanced version, some old items that used object redirectors to other objects in the unreal packages (such as some unique items), and grenade mods and mission objects that don't appear to use the same colorization scheme..

Thanks. Yes it seems that the colors now appear as orange for the new legendaries, with their correct names and manufacturers too.
