#11 Submitting comments easier inworld

Is it possible, when someone clicks on the 'get/add comments' for a particular design, that it opens up the inworld browser to the forum section of that specific design?

This would replace typing in the comments into the /33 channel.

In the longer term, I think we want to be able to do voting, commenting and more without requiring a Web server. But in the short term, I think this is a big improvement over the current method of navigating to the page. And it shouldn't be too hard to implement.

One UI aspect to consider -- currently a click means to rez the design. With this change, should a single click both rez the design and offer to open the page in the internal browser? Or would we change the UI interaction for rezzing the design?

It would be nice to drive, conceptually, toward a "contextual drop-down menu" for each leaf, where functionality like commenting, rezzing, snapshots, etc. reside. I can see a future, where the trunk is completely eliminated from the design of the UI all together.

I totally agree. But SL menus are clunky, so I am always looking for alternatives. One possibility would be to have a click bring up the menu, but a double click would skip the menu and just rez the design. (Although double clicks are not common in SL, it is possible to implement them.) Another possibility would be to texture the leaves in a way that it was clear that clicking on certain parts of the leaf would have a direct consequence. For example, one might be able to display all the comments, or vote, by clicking on a particular area of the leaf.
