The page [[wikipedia:How does one edit a page]] is
rendered differently under the new software than under
the old. (The right column.) Apparently, the old code
ignored wiki markup inside <pre>..</pre>, while the new
doesn't.

Personally, I think it makes more sense the new way. "PRE"
is supposed to mean nothing but "preformatted", i.e., that
the text should be rendered with line breaks and indents
preseved. Even in HTML, things link links can appear inside
PRE, so why shouldn't things like [[link]]? The old way
does make it easy to import code, for example, but that can
still be done with NOWIKI, so we only gain functionality
    with the new way.

I posted a message to the list for comment, and got exactly
zero responses. I'm going to close this; if lots of complaints
suddenly arise, they can open it again.
