Stéphane and I are wondering about our plugin system. Is it worthwhile continuing to have a mechanism to allow users to write their own plugins or should we simply bring all our core plugins into the core code and drop the extensibility?

I don't think it's really worthwhile. Put the plugins in the core code, I think this will make your work a little bit easier and the installation more streamlined.
