Hi all! """" Besides: I am in contact with a guy who wants to improve our AI - he hasn't yet started as he is now on a trip to Australia (often people tell strange things and dissappear - but who knows, perhaps the AI will see an improvement in near future as well) """" That's me I think (if not, the more the merrier), might as well introduce myself properly. My name is TiRune (Tijmen Blankevoort) from the Netherlands. I have a few years experience in the field of AI through programming AIs for small simple games, chess, checkers and go. I'm studying Mathematics, computer science and Japanese, and because of the latter I'm moving to Japan for a year (not Australia :P). Moving there in 3 weeks exactly, and have some work left to finish here. So as Peter already said, that's the strange story, and I won't be of any help in that period. At any rate, when I'm settled in Japan I'm planning to spend a few days on the Widelands AI. It'll take me some time to get used to the program code ofcourse, but I'll draft a plan of what my concrete ideas are afterwards. Are there any other people working on the AI? If so please contact so we can keep in touch ^^ The contest for maps seems like a good idea, most of the maps in Widelands at the moment I've found to be rather unplayable in general. It might be difficult to actually get balanced maps going though, since you'll need someone at a LAN or summat to test. At any rate, I'll keep up to date through the mailing list, and you'll hear from me when I've started working ^^ Cheers, TiRune 2008/8/4 Peter Schwanemann <sea...@gm...> > Holger Rapp schrieb: > > It is good to see your enthusiasm being back!! :) > > > doesn't mean much ;-) - there are many exams in next two months, so my > activity will decrease in next time again :-D > > I like the idea.
