If anyone who did a complete installation on windows with XP could post a couple of screenshots
it would be very very nice.

I currently have the following problem
1 - I have filled in the Preferences Custom shell for cygwin, but it doesn't show. I only get the delivered DOS shell - I need a screen shot for the CygwinBash shell and I need to know how to launch it.

2 - I started modifying .profile and .bashrc PS1. Why not supply some examples for .profile as well.
Not the same syntax as .bashrc

3 - Don't know if I can use dos and cygwin shells in paralell

4 - No clue how to do remote shells. If I could do remote shells via SSH that would be a real plus.

      Hi,

I'll try to answer your questions bit by bit.

      1) You only have to choose the installation directory of your cygwin installation. If you apply cygwin as default, the next shell view (either via Window->Show View->Other->Wicked Shell->Shell or 'Addidtional Shell' menu entry of the menu of an open shell view)
You can also switch the active shell by choosing the appropriate from the 'Active Shell' menu entry of an open shell view)

      2) Sorry for not supplying .profile examples - I do not use neither cygwin nor msys, I integrated it due to a feature request.

      3) Sure you can just open an additional shell view (from the menu) and switch the shell (see 1 how to to that)

      4) Actually I created Wicked Shell to use my local shell, so unfortunately it's not capable of remote ones (exept you find some executable that may be used and can be launched). If you need support how to configure a custom shell for that executable, just give me a hint I'll do my best to support you.

Hope that helps and you find Wicked Shell useful.

      Best Regards,
      Stefan

Thanks for answering so fast - appreciate it a lot

I did some testing on point one

I finally managed to start a bash shell, but only by
choosing the predefined "Cygwin - Bash [bash.exe -l -i] entry directly under Window/preferences/Wicked Shell. There are four different choices her, but they do not change when I edit under
      Windows/preferences/custom shells

There are a lot of error messages in the start but the shell comes up with the prompt according to your documentation.

But I don't see the link between this "Cygwin - Bash" and the additional shells that can be defined under Wicked Shell Custom Shells. I have defined four different shells there and they don't seem possible to open.
      They're not seen under Window/Show wiew/other/Wicked Shell
The only sub-choices available are: "Batch Files" and "Shell"

Wicked Shell defines only one "Shell View" that is backed by a shell process. That's the reason why you only see the one view :) in Window/Show wiew/other/Wicked Shell. Each open view part (as I said, you may open multiple Shell Views) may be backed with a different shell, either the predefined ones from the Window/preferences/Wicked Shell or with the custom ones from Windows/preferences/custom. To change the backing shell, choose one from the view's menu (drop down in the view's toolbar) using the 'Active Shell' menu entry. I'll send you a screenshot to your sourceforge mail address.

You may disable the error message dialog in the preferences, it does not work well together with cygwin/msys.
