I just did a new install. Created a probject using the Rational model, in use cases, I tried to create a new State Chart. It fails with Access violation at address 174A630 in module vc190.bpl. Read of address 0.
After dismissing Error, another poped up Access violation at address A7476FB in module WhiteStarUML.exe Read Address 0.

After which is lets me create elemnts for the diagram.

I did sucessfully save, and reload the project.

I'm running windows 7 professional 64 bit
64 bit v 5.9.0.0

    I have the same issue.
Everytime I launch the WhiteStarUml.exe I need to acknowledge/close 4 times the access violation dialog box.
Only after this "welcome" step it works fine. To me it is that some of the environment is really dated, although the author did great work towards modernizing and integrating the whole into modern Windows editions.

It looks like an issue with showing diagrams on faster, multicore machines. It is quite elusive and I cannot reproduce it on my laptop with two cores so I cannot say yet if it is a bug in the code or external GUI libs. For now it seems that the build 5.8.6 and earlier ones are not affected by this problem.

It seems that this is a problem with the tree view control in the Model Explorer (Virtual Tree View). I recompiled it with the latest sources from GitHub. It looks stable now on my computer. This build can be found in WhiteStarUML-5.9.0.1-Win64.zip.
