Is there any way to add an incoming message to sequence diagrams?
I looked through all of the Sequence Diagrams page in the help but all I could find was that incoming stimuli will have <~ in the string, but I can't set that.

If you think of the incoming message as a message not originating from any object on the diagram it is not supported now I think. So you will need to provide a dummy object to simulate an external source.

Yes, as this a standard UML feature it can be added just some investigation will be needed to check how it would fit the existing implementation.
