Hi!
The document field always was a little bit tricky. In previous versions (before 5.9.0.0 64bit) things were suboptimal but getting better. In doubt you could press CTRL-S (save) to surely save your work.
But now in 5.9. try this: Write some text into the documentation field and then press CRTL-S. You will see that everything will be cleared (or better said: the previous content will be restored)! To save your documentation it is obligatory to first focus another item.
Do you really think this is an improvement?

However I believe that currently there is no need for compulsory saving as the documentation editor state is stored once the cursor leaves the editor. If you still feel pressed to save the project just make sure that the cursor is outside the editor without clicking anywhere. Also it is a pity that such problems are reported with such a delay as last time when any changes in that area were made was back in March.

There were various issues like this one: http://sourceforge.net/p/whitestaruml/discussion/general/thread/6f58350c/
Looks that fixing that problem introduced a glitch and saving still may have some undesirable effects.
