I note on Readme that 5.7.1 is compatible with TreeView; after some googling I'm still unclear about what is TreeView and how it can be used with StarUML. Is it an XML parser that can show the StarUML XMI file in tree structure? if so it would be a great workaround for the issues with documentation generators. If anyone can share more about what treeView can do with StarUML please let us know! Thanks!

Virtual TreeView is a software component used at programming in Delphi level. It can show tree based data like the one in the Model and Diagram Explorers however is not usable as a stand alone tool.
XML data in XMI files can be shown with any XML compatible viewer. I am not sure to what problem are you referring to when you mention the Documentation Generator. I am not aware of any particular hassles beyond compatibility with Office 2013 or newer.

Thanks Janusz, on my Win 7 system +Office 13 StarUML crashes when generating any documentation, I thought with an XML viewer I could read the XMI file into tabular form, export to Excel and then sort out the documentation I need )for example, list all Classes in a particular Package with Definition and Tagged Values for each Class). Would be nice tot know if there is any easy way to do it

I assume you are using WhiteStarUML otherwise make sure you understand the difference between StarUML and WhiteStarUML.
Earlier today I had an opportunity to test freshly installed WhiteStarUML 5.7.1 with Office 2016 and all standard documentation generation went smoothly.Looks that reported problems concern only Office 2013. Maybe you should consider upgrading the Office package. Of course with looking at the trial version of Office 2016 first.
