Three years of existence of WhiteStarUML are marked with the initial delivery of its 64 bit version (in the Win64 folder). Unfortunately it is still a quite modest one as it contains only one DLL plugin - XMI export/import. The other ones are still crippled by rather aged StarUML heritage and contain old components being 32 bit binary only or having x86 assembler code. Those problems will be addressed in the coming time but some will require a bigger redesign.
On the positive side, the main program and profile based plugins like ERD should be fully functional and advantages of 64 bit mode like bigger memory space should be available for creating bigger UML models. At present the 32 and 64 bit versions should not be installed on the same system, if both are needed a virtual machine can be used. In the future some strategy for coexistence may be delivered.
Happy UML modeling in 2015!
