I just discovered something odd. If i try to shutdown the appserver by hitting ctrl-c, and then hit ctrl-z to suspend it, and then use bg to put it in the background, then use fg to bring it to the foreground, and keep repeating this sequence, usually after 3-4 times it will shut down. I have no clue what this means, but i'm guessing it's a clue as to why its hanging.
