Our concern is that the following segment is in too many extents: Segment Name: CMS_FL_CNT_CONTENT_LOB_SEG Segment Type: LOBSEGMENT Tablespace: WEBCT_LOB Size in Bytes: 181,636,431,872 No. of Extents: 346,444 We have never heard of a segment with this many extents (regardless of object type). We noticed that the locally-managed tablespace WEBCT_LOB in our production database has a uniform extent size of 512K. The tablespace which was added later, PORTFOLIO_LOB, has a uniform extent size of 131072K (256 times as large). The WEBCT_LOB tablespace in our development database, which was created later (because we re-created it as a 10g database), also has a uniform extent size of 131072K. This suggests to me that Blackboard realized that the extents for the LOB segments should be sized larger, so that there wouldn't be so many of them. Our question is: At what point might this object become unmanageable? Should we attempt to resize this object? Thanks!
