Why (or why not) is WebChangeMonitor.crt needed in Linux?

I tried WCM 24.02 without the WebChangeMonitor.crt certificates file, and it was able to connect to sites without difficulty. I believe this is because it is using the system's certificates. As such, is the WebChangeMonitor.crt file needed in Linux? If not, what should the user specify for the location of that file within WCM's configuration UI?

The certificate store is provided because it is the most recent version you can get that ships with the CURL library. Usually it is recommended to use that one with CURL. (It also ships with the CURL executable itself, for example.) It is usually even more recent than the ones of the operating system assuming you are really using a recent CURL library. If your operating system should have a newer version then you have to search for where it is stored - it depends on your operating system. I can't tell, therefore. You would need to read about where your OS stores the default certificates. However, if you leave this field blank, then CURL itself will try to find the OS certificates for you. This should usually work.
