Hello!

Is there any possibility to create a persistent Dummy video device for WebcamStudio which you can use as output device and which is detected by other software even before the WebcamStudio is started?

The problem is: For example Chrome Browser only detects the dummy video device after it got started within the Webcamstudio. Otherwise you have to close all Chrome windows before you can use the Dummy Video device.

That means, sometimes you have to close (and reopen!) lot's of Tabs, even you may have to leave active Chats (maybe the Chat you just want to use for camming) to use the WebcamStudio.

I have not tried with other software, but I can think lot's of software is not aware of "changing hardware" during run, so they won't be aware of a "new" video device without restarts.

So I think it would be much better, there would be any possibility to create a persistent video device in /dev. So the client software could use the Dummy device even with "nothing" in it. Perfect would be: WebcamStudio would show a (configurable) picture in it: "Please start WebcamStudio to use this video device". Within the run WebcamStudio can output to this device, and everything works fine in all applications.

I think it would increase the usability a lot.
