Hi and thank you very much for this question.
I Think that WebcamStudio running on Puppy could be very fast !!!
I try to install on puppy several times, but i didn't find all the dependences.
First you need Java and this is quite easy on Puppy ...
But the others for me was too trycky ..
You can look at dependences here:

    https://github.com/WebcamStudio/webcamstudio

If you have any success, please let me know.
    Thanks.
    Have a good day.

    thanks karl

the very fast is the reason, as i tried to run 2 c920 on a 2008 late macbook pro and after on a i5 HP Pavilion dv6-2170 windows 7 both of them was unable to handle it, they even crash with one cam to 800x600 browser streaming via flash. with puppy on hp, i streamed 1280x720 with 30 fps and cam worked out of the box without drivers and the system never went over the half of the processing power. so yes i believe, as you it wil be possible to handle them. i found also this guy http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=76654&sid=b8bec05dfdfc8604bde0db545c67035b but as he said "It looks like it almost works". if you didnt as a programer i dont have a chance. do you think oldest version could be easiest of wcs?

    thanks!
    have a good day too.

Thanks for the reply Jf, i'm not a real coder so I think that with patience you can made it better than me !!!
Anyway I was trying not so deep to have WS running on puppy ...
I can help you if you have questions about the program dependencies, consider that now i have very little time for WebcamStudio :)
If you use older WS release I think that the only difference in packages dependencies is between version 0.5x and 0.7x, but 0.5x original Patrick Balleux code is no longer maintained ...
    Tanks.
    karl.
