[webmin-l] stunnel and webmin

Hello Jamie!

Any chance of getting support for stunnel configuration without the use of inetd/xinetd?

Typically, we use stunnel without such tools and store the configuration in /etc/stunnel/stunnel.conf
The .pem files, certs.pem, etc. and the log files are also (in our case) stored in that directory.

Is that even possible? I didn't know that stunnel could run as a stand-alone
server .. I thought it always needed a program like inetd, xinetd or tcpserver
to actually accept the network connections.

That said, xinetd is a pretty light-weight program, assuming that you don't
configure it to run any other services.

Yes, it is very possible; we're currently running it on four servers without inetd/xinetd. So, it'd be nice if Webmin could support that configuration. It is not likely that we'll be installing xinetd or any other such "front-end" daemon.

I probably won't add support for that mode any time soon, as it would mean
starting and stopping the stunnel daemon, arranging for it to be started at
boot time, and other complexities that xinetd / inetd do for you automatically..
