When I use Virtualmin, I get an error if I enable the checkbox with "Create Unix User"; if I clear it, no error occurs. It insists on creating a group called "test4" (when I tell it to create a new virtual server for "test4.domain.com"; I have tried every single setting I can think of to no avail. Also, when it fails, and I click on "Return" (or back, or whatever it says, the actual link), I get an error about "Not found.." something or other. Anyway, I want to use awstats instead of webalizer for stats; I've installed the awstats module for webmin/virtualmin; how do I get it to appear for the virtualmin login? Does usermin have anything at all to do with virtual servers/virtualmin? I'd like to see better support for Apache 1.3.x configurations/installations built from source. In 99% of the cases on servers I've seen, Apache 1.3.x built from source is installed under /usr/local/apache, and from there you have logs, conf, cgi-bin, icons, etc. How about global "broadcast" or "message" support in virtualmin/webmin; "The site is temporarily down due to <message>" with optional expected up-date/time information, etc. etc. -joho |

"Failed to create group"; or something very close to it. I tried it every p= ossible way I can think of (parameters, username settings, etc). I got Awstats worksing, although it'd be nice with seamless integration whe= n I create a virtual site, so that VM sets up statistics using Awstats, ins= tead of allowing for the webalizer option(s). Webmin, and VM, knows where Apache is, but it was complaining about not kno= wing where the htdigest application was; which in most Apache configuration= s is in the same place as apachectl and what not. When creating a protecte= d directory, it allowed the use of crypt-style passwords, and I couldn't fi= nd anywhere to turn that off (I want only MD5 or "better"). -joho ------------------------- Ursprungligt Meddelande: Fr=E5n: Jamie Cameron <jca...@we...> Till: Webmin users list <web...@li...> Kopia:=20 Datum: onsdag, 25 oktober 2006 06:49 =C4rende: Re: [webmin-l] [1.300] Virtualmin; putting it all together On 24/Oct/2006 06:22 Joaquim Homrighausen wrote .. >=20 > When I use Virtualmin, I get an error if I enable the checkbox with "Crea= te > Unix User"; if I clear it, no error occurs. It has come as far as figuring out which uid to use; the website is created= and the owner uid is the one that would be the next available in the passw= d file. It has also created the group, called test6.test.domain.se. It is t= he (group) owner of the newly created directory structure under /srv/www/te= st6.test.domain.se The site does not show up in the virtualmin server list. This setting "Default Unix group for domain owners" in the VM module config= uration is set to the group "customers", but that doesn't seem to matter, i= t creates a new group anyway. The setting "Format for usernames that inclu= de domain" is set to "username-domain". No awstats reporting is created when it fails, so it hasn't gotten to that = at least. If I tell it to use the group "customer" for mailboxusers, I get this error= message instead (and much sooner): "Failed to create virtual server : A unix user called test8 or group called= customer already exists" What am I doing wrong? Keep in mind, I don't want to create anything for mail, could it be that WM= /VM somehow is trying to do something with a mail configuration that isn't = there.. ? I've set the "Mailbox and alias configuration enabled?" option to= "No". Of course, if I don't let it create a Unix user, I cannot get AWstats worki= ng properly (and so WM claims when I try). I've checked the webmin log, and nothing is written to it at all when VM fa= ils. -joho ------------------------- Ursprungligt meddelande: Fr=E5n: Joaquim Homrighausen <jo...@we...> Till: Webmin users list <web...@li...> Kopia:=20 Datum: m=E5ndag, 30 oktober 2006 14:58 =C4rende: Re: [webmin-l] [1.300] Virtualmin; putting it all together It has come as far as figuring out which uid to use; the website is created= and the owner uid is the one that would be the next available in the passw= d file. 99% of the time when I see this, the cause is the nscd daemon, which caches users and groups and confuses Webmin. Use the Bootup and Shutdown module to kill it and stop it from being started at boot time! Hallelujah! Removing nscd removed the problem! :-) (perhaps Webmin can check for it running and WARN on the VM-screen) Is there any way I can force date/time formats; I logged on as the VM-admin= user for a newly created VM-domain, and it showed "31/Oct/2006 11:55 by ro= ot" as the creation time. I'd like to see "2006-10-31 11:55 by root" there. Also, is there a way to automatically set-up the awstats directory as prote= cted (with the unix user as an added user)? As it is right now, I can acces= s the stats as "anyone" by going to the http://www.site.com/cgi-bin/awstats= .pl -joho ------------------------- Ursprungligt meddelande: Fr=E5n: Jamie Cameron <jca...@we...> Till: Webmin users list <web...@li...> Kopia:=20 Datum: tisdag, 31 oktober 2006 00:55 =C4rende: Re: [webmin-l] [1.300] Virtualmin; putting it all together 99% of the time when I see this, the cause is the nscd daemon, which caches users and groups and confuses Webmin.
