Hello, I've tried creating my own module for webmin according to the article on the Documentation page but webmin doesn't seem to want to list it in the left menu. I tried replacing the contents of my custom module folder with files from a working module and thus I get it listed twice but when I try to modify the module.info file even if it's just saving the file without modifying it the entry disappears. Has anyone encountered this issue before ? |

Whenever I add a custom module I don't use the built-in functionality of webmin to add it. I do it within the file system itself and edit the proper files. After you've created your new BLAH module with its own directory in /usr/libexec/webmin/BLAH, you'll also need to add BLAH to the root user access in /etc/webmin/webmin.acl by adding BLAH to the line for "root: ". If you'd rather do this from within webmin, you'll need to use the webmin configuration's "Reassign Modules" function to put your module into a category. This can happen if the cache file /etc/webmin/module.infos.cache is out of date. Try deleting it, then reloading Webmin in your browser. - Jamie On Aug 5, 2009, at 6:34 AM, Petrovici Bogdan <pet...@gm... > wrote: > Hello, I've tried creating my own module for webmin according to the > article on the Documentation page but webmin doesn't seem to want to > list it in the left menu. In that case, if you are on Windows it won't be under the /etc/webmin
directory. Look for the file miniserv.conf on your system, and
[1]module.infos.cache will be in the same directory.

I managed to find miniserv.conf in /etc/webmin but there is no module.infos.cache. I also tried to find it by doing a search in the cygwin directory before posting here but to no avail. Could this have any connection with some errors I receive when installing the tar? Since I don't have a root account or bin group in cygwin it complains about not being able to change owner and group for the installed files. You should remove that os_support=!windows line, as I presume you are
running on Windows. It tells Webmin that the module does not support
Windows.

Another thing to check is if you have access to the new module, as set in
the Webmin Users module.

Also, any time you change a module.info file manually, be sure to remove
[1]module.infos.cache (if it exists).

Another thing to check is if you have access to the new module, as set in
