Thanks Jamie, Yes I updated the theme late last night (probably right before you tested it). In the earlier releases I was using the theme_postbody function to add HTML after the content. I'm not sure what was going wrong, but renaming the function to theme_footer (and adding HTML closing tags) fixed the problem. I've asked a couple of other people to test it, but I am pretty sure things are back to normal now. Hmm, I am surprised that this ever worked .. as far as I recall, the "Read User Mail" module only ever showed mailboxes for actual users, not just any file under /var/mail. Long ago I used to use it as my main mail reader, and I actually created additional users (with the same UID as my main account) whose usernames matched the files in /var/mail that I used for extra folders. I suggest using that same solution.. Alternately, you can install Usermin which lets you add any arbitrary file as a folder.. - Jamie |

I had a server for our office which was running an older version of just about everything (set up about 5-6 years ago), and has recently been upgrading with new versions of all the web-based daemons and such we use. I have been using webmin since then and have enjoyed it immensely. However, in the transition from the old version to this new version, a feature of the "read user mail" (that I used ALL the time) is gone. I use procmail to help manage incoming mail, and I use it to separate out mail based on various tests and the like. It would write them out to files in the mail spool directory such as "probably-spam" and "needs-spam-scan" and things like that. Using the "read user mail" interface, I use to see these files in the list and parse through them doing whatever needed to be done on the contents. They are no longer listed!!! In fact, it appears that ONLY actual users of the system are listed here now.. wtf? This is really irritating. Now if I want to open these files, I either have to add a user to the system of that file name (which is retarded, because these things can and do change as needs arise), use the 'browse' feature and manually click through the directory tree to the mail spool directory and select the file, or manually type it in. I check these files 4-5 times a day and it is really getting on my nerves!! Why isn't there a config option to disable this annoyance? As an added slap to the face, if I have one of these files open, click on a message to view its headers, and then decided to delete it, I get the "this user does not exist" error. Please please please fix this!!!!! Brad |

Hi everyone, Its' been a long time since I was looking for a Xen/KVM module able to manage the state (online, offline, etc…) of virtual machines… Since nobody has written something satisfying for Webmin concerning virtualization, I decided to write a module which fills my needs. It's named virt-manager and can handle the state of virtual machines through the virsh tool (listing, stopping, starting, suspending, etc…). As it is virsh based, I expect it to work on every system based on libvirt (including Xen and KVM). Unfortunately, I was only able to test this module on CentOS 5, I'm not sure it can work on other system… That is the main part of the module so don't expect something extraordinary (like installing machine, deploying ghost, etc…) : this is just a minimum adminstration tool. However, I though it would be sweet if you can just see the "physical" console of the VM directly though VNC. As the vfb of Xen (and KVM) is only listenning on localhost:5900+<machine_id> by default (and changing that is REALLY annoying), I wrote a simple port forwarding script so I can connect an Java VNC applet directly on Dom0 (via port 30000+<machine_id>) and see the DomU console without modifying its configuration. This last part is probably not as secure and as clean as I wanted it to be so you can just ignore it, delete it or decativate it. You can download the module directly on http://perso.nintendojo.fr/~mortal/virt-manager.tar.gz or a patch that applies to the webmin 1.480 source on http://perso.nintendojo.fr/~mortal/virt-manager.patch Hope this would help someone… -- Clément Véret |

I doubt if those ownership errors are related. Another thing to check is if you have access to the new module, as set in the Webmin Users module. - Jamie On Aug 6, 2009, at 12:21 AM, Petrovici Bogdan <pet...@gm... > wrote: > I managed to find miniserv.conf in /etc/webmin but there is no > module.infos.cache. I managed to find miniserv.conf in /etc/webmin but there is no module.infos.cache. I also tried to find it by doing a search in the cygwin directory before posting here but to no avail. Could this have any connection with some errors I receive when installing the tar? Since I don't have a root account or bin group in cygwin it complains about not being able to change owner and group for the installed files. In that case, if you are on Windows it won't be under the /etc/webmin directory. Look for the file miniserv.conf on your system, and [1]module.infos.cache will be in the same directory. This can happen if the cache file /etc/webmin/module.infos.cache is out of date. Whenever I add a custom module I don't use the built-in functionality of webmin to add it. I do it within the file system itself and edit the proper files. After you've created your new BLAH module with its own directory in /usr/libexec/webmin/BLAH, you'll also need to add BLAH to the root user access in /etc/webmin/webmin.acl by adding BLAH to the line for "root: ". If you'd rather do this from within webmin, you'll need to use the webmin configuration's "Reassign Modules" function to put your module into a category. Hello, I've tried creating my own module for webmin according to the article on the Documentation page but webmin doesn't seem to want to list it in the left menu. I tried replacing the contents of my custom module folder with files from a working module and thus I get it listed twice but when I try to modify the module.info file even if it's just saving the file without modifying it the entry disappears. Has anyone encountered this issue before ? |
