[webmin-l] Upgrade to Webmin 1.996 Failed

I tried to update from 1.994 to 1.996, but it stalled at “running post install scripts”, and now I cannot access Webmin at all. What do I do? I used Webmin exclusively to administer my server - I do not know any other way to do it (upgrades never failed previously).
