I just wanted to throw my 2 cents in here. I would strongly suggest you follow the install instructions provided for virtualmin at least one time to see what it looks like before you do what you have done here. The setup of PHP is very specifically handled using "non-standard" methods that are accepted by the community, but not really the way you are trying to do it here. Your system before the installation of Virtualmin should have nothing on it except the OS. You should run the setup script for your OS. Then perhaps things will make way more sense to you. After you have a working system, wedge in your changes, testing as you go, and you probably will be able to do what you want.
