On a host where I had not had reason to access Webmin in quite some time, I'm now getting a "Error - Access denied for <ip address>". I have re-started webmin I have checked miniserv.users I have checked other logfiles (they only say the same thing "[05/Oct/2018:09:30:02 +0200] [123.123.123.123] Access denied for 123.123.123.123" /var/webmin/blocked is empty Nothing in hosts.deny I've tried with a different browser I've upgraded Webmin from CLI from 1.860 to 1.890 I cannot seem to figure out WHY this IP is blocked. I've had this IP address for four years, and very rarely access Webmin from it. SSH is set to key based authentication only. The only slight hint of an issue I can see is in /var/log/auth.log where I get: Oct 5 09:25:06 abcdhost perl: pam_unix(webmin:auth): authentication failure; logname= uid=0 euid=0 tty= ruser= rhost= user=root Oct 5 09:25:08 abcdhost webmin[30042]: Webmin starting Oct 5 09:25:41 abcdhost perl: pam_unix(webmin:auth): authentication failure; logname=root uid=0 euid=0 tty= ruser= rhost= user=root Oct 5 09:25:42 abcdhost webmin[30088]: Webmin starting -joho |
