[webmin-l] cannot connect to server after install

I just installed virtualmin (latest from the download page) using the 
automated install and everything check good during the installation.  
However, when I try to log into the server at the address given by the 
vitrualmin installation at the end of the install, I get an error 
message: can't establish a connection to the server at FQD.com:10000 
where FQD is my fully qualified domain name for the server.  I am 
wondering if the webserver that virtualmin installs and uses was not 
started after the installation.  How can I check this and if so, how can 
I start it at the command line?

I have never had this to happen all the times I have installed webmin or 
virtualmin.
