Problem with Filemanager

Hi gurus

When I first installed Webmin on my Red Hat Linux 7.3 Filemanager within 
Webmin worked fine. After I have compiled a new kernel and made some other 
adjustments (which I don´t remember all), Filemanager is very slow. To edit 
or upload a file take an awful time. A 2 mb file could take one hour. Is 
there some service which I have disabled who needs to run?. Or did I forgot 
something when I compiled the new kernel? (2.4.19). I would be very happy if 
someone could help me with this problem. I am running both Webmin and 
Filemanager in the latest version. The box which Webmin is running on acts 
like a firewall and router with 3 nics (10 mb) attached to it. One is for a 
dmz.
