in /var/log/messages i see

Nov 12 19:35:34 proteus2 usermin(pam_unix)[4506]: authentication failure; 
logname= uid=0 euid=0 tty= ruser= rhost=  user=grazcouk

and nothing in miniserv.error that seems to relate.

Mark
