I know it's not entirely fair, but I tried installing the new webmin deb onto a machine already running an earlier version. The earlier version was not installed by deb. The installation failed with a "port already in use" error. Probably isn't worth doing anything about, but I thought I'd mention it anyway. Once I removed the old webmin and reinstalled the deb things seem to work fine. Thanks for the deb... I first discovered webmin browsing the debs available in Debian (Woody?). Also, I'm curious as to what cooperation if any happens between the various admin front ends available for OSS (gadmintools, gconf, swat, mysql-admin, destar etc..). Is there any? I've always thought OSS would be a more consistently friendly place if there was a library of well debugged config plugins/modules that UI guys could plunder and abuse. It might even be useful for the config fiddling that some rpm/debs do. Does this already exist, or are there good technical or political reasons why this doesn't exist? -Mark |
