For some reason, I cannot get Webmin users with PAM-based password authentication to LDAP working on my install. Our LDAP-based users are able to log into the server that hosts Webmin, but not Webmin itself when I configure them as Use Unix Authentication. The particulars: - Fedora Core 4 with webmin-1.280-1 RPM - PAM configured via authconfig to authenticate users to LDAP, which works for logging into the server itself - In Webmin Configuration -> Authentication, I've selected Use PAM for Unix authentication - In Webmin Users, I've entered the names of 3 accounts known to exist in LDAP and which work for logging into the server itself. I've set these accounts to Use UNIX authentication. - IP access control is configured to allow from all addresses The LDAP-based logins all fail, with just a simple "invalid login from user fran from ip x.x.x.x" message in the /var/log/secure log file. Logins for users local to the server (namely, root) work fine. Anyone know 1. what I am missing and 2. how to turn on more verbose logging? Thanks! -Fran -- Fran Fabrizio Senior Systems Analyst Department of Computer and Information Sciences University of Alabama at Birmingham http://www.cis.uab.edu/ 205.934.0653 |
