the data is transferred internal at the hosting company, and the ftp  
server is reachable only from within the hosting center. ok, someone in  
the same subnet may be able to listening to the stream, but this problem  
could be solved by encrypting the tgz (see ESR backup). i certainly would  
prefer ssh access to the backup space but ftp is what i get and the  
hosting package is very good otherwise.
