[webmin-l] change install (and update) from rpm to tar.gz

I'm sure it was mentioned some time ago... but I can not find it :(

How can I change Webmin behavior in such a way that it will treat the 
upgrade as one from a tar.gz install instead of one from an RPM install??? 
(I inherit the server where Webmin was installed from RPM).
