Hi Aaron,<br />PAM is an API that programs like Webmin can use to check passwords on a Linux system. However, in order to use it the Perl module Authen::PAM must be installed, and the file /etc/pam.d/webmin must be setup correctly. If either of those are not working, you can get into a suituation where you cannot login to Webmin. Normally I can detect this and fall back to a different type of authentication, but it seems to be failing in your case.<br /><br />The changepass.pl program sets the password for the root Webmin user separately, which is stored in /etc/webmin/miniserv.users.
