I'm new to webmin and apologize, in advance, if I'm rehashing old ground or have overlooked something obvious. I have searched the archives and googled a bit but have turned up nothing definitive in a few hours of searching, though I did find something perhaps related here http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/message.php?msg_id=14626558 My issue is that I am using System > Users and Groups > [username] to change a the password for a user who is also a webmin user (I haven't tested users who are not webmin users). When I do so what results is 1. BASH accepts both passwords in the context of "su [username]" 2. webmin accepts only the new password 3. POP3 using SSL accepts only the old password (I don't allow plain- text login traffic) Regarding (1.) "su [username]", /var/log/system.log reports for the new password [...] com.apple.SecurityServer: Failed to authorize right system.login.tty by process /usr/bin/su for authorization created by / usr/bin/su. even though the login prompt indicates a successful su, while for the old password /var/log/system.log yields [...] com.apple.SecurityServer: Succeeded authorizing right system.login.tty by process /usr/bin/su for authorization created by / usr/bin/su. Any clues? Thank you in advance for any pointers and, again, my apologies if I've overlooked an already available resource. Johnnie Wilcox aka mistersquid |
