AFAIK there is only the version from the default Redhat 9 instillation. =
I have not installed another version of Perl myself. It does not look =
like there is another version, but how can I test this properly ?

Could it be that you have several (at least two) versions of perl on =
the system, and you are installing it from the command line to a version =
that is not what WebMin uses?
I've had this difficulty myself???
>>> an...@be... 5/1/2006 2:29:35 >>>
It has :-
authpriv.* =
/var/log/secure
The fact the the Perl module Authen::PAM is still not being seen and =
producing an error in /var/webmin/miniserv.error when doing a service =
restart on Webmin seems to be the crux of the problem.
Installing the Perl module does not help though. I am confused.

That is really odd ..
Does the /etc/syslog.conf file on yoru system contain a line like :
authpriv.*;auth.* =
/var/log/secure
to log messages to /var/log/secure?

No only to say Webmin is starting in /var/log/secure nothing else.

How about your /var/log/secure file, or /var/log/messages .. =
does anything appear in there?

Okay done that and restarted the service but am still getting =
the same error message in miniserv.error and no authlog.

I cannot find "/var/log/authlog" and "miniserv.error" got :-

Can I install this ?

Hi,
I have Webmin installed on two Redhat 9 servers. Both =
were working fine with version 1.250 for four months.
I have just reinstalled one server with Redhat 9 and =
Webmin 1.270 after a disk crash but the admin logon is not working.
I have just deinstalled 1.270 and reinstalled it with =
1.250 but the logon is not working still. I have tried resetting the =
password too.
The only thing I can think of doing is reinstalling =
Redhat 9 again from scratch, but would rather not do that.
Any help welcome.
Aaron
Check to see what gets logged to /var/log/authlog and =
/var/webmin/miniserv.error when you try to logon. The reasons for any =
failures
should be recorded there ..
