Could it be that you have several (at least two) versions of perl on the =
system, and you are installing it from the command line to a version that =

The fact the the Perl module Authen::PAM is still not being seen and =
producing an error in /var/webmin/miniserv.error when doing a service =
restart on Webmin seems to be the crux of the problem.

Installing the Perl module does not help though. I am confused.

That is really odd ..
Does the /etc/syslog.conf file on yoru system contain a line like :

authpriv.*;auth.*                                       /var/log/secure

to log messages to /var/log/secure?

How about your /var/log/secure file, or /var/log/messages .. does anything =
appear in there?

Check to see what gets logged to /var/log/authlog and /var/webmin/miniserv.=
error when you try to logon. The reasons for any failures
should be recorded there ..
