Yes, that button will remove the drive from the volume group without causing the loss of any data. However, it will only work if there is enough free space on the remaining drives to hold any data that is moved off the one that is removed.

Basically, the sum of the sizes of all existing LVs must be less than the sum of the sizes of the remaining PV drives..

Hi everyone,

We have 3 HD in a vg and we'd like to take one out.  I see there is a 
button 'Remove from volume group' when I click on the physical volume I 
want to remove.  Is this safe?  Will it transfer the data to the rest of 
the logical volume and then take it out the volume group? 

I already found the how to on tldp 
(http://www.tldp.org/HOWTO/LVM-HOWTO/removeadisk.html) to do it 
manually, but I'd sure like to replace that with a simple click in webmin :)
