Hi Prodos, It sounds like there was still a MySQL 'db' table entry for the user. You can see these in the MySQL module of Webmin, on the Database Permissions page. If Virtualmin is creating this when you add a server but not removing them when you delete, that is a bug .. - Jamie -----Original Message----- From: "pr...@pr..." <pr...@pr...> Subj: [webmin-l] Error message: username or MySQL name already exist Date: Sat 4 Feb 2006 3:51 pm Size: 2K To: web...@li... From: Prodos Good morning. Last year I created a virtual sever: drupal.prodos.org (to test out the Drupal CMS program). Later I deleted that virtual server. Today I tried creating that same virtual server again, using the SAME username and database name as before. But I kept getting an error message, something like: "Unable to create this virtual server because the same username or MySQL database name already exists." (Sorry, I haven't got the exact wording because I then went ahead and created the site using a different username and database name and had no problems doing so.) At the time I was getting the error message I checked my list of MySQL servers. There was no database name of the same name as the one being rejected. Then I checked in "webmin users" and DID find the username listed. So I deleted it and tried again to create the virtual server with the same username and database name. Again I got the same error message! Can anyone tell me why this error message still popped up even though there was no MySQL server of the same name and the username had been deleted? Does WEBMIN store these usernames somewhere else within its system? Is there something else I have to delete in order to be able to use that username again? It doesn't pose any problem to just choose a different username/database name, but I'd like to understand my WEBMIN better and to make sure I'm deleting servers correctly. Thanks for any assistance or tips on this issue!
