Another thing you could try is turning off SSL and PAM in Webmin. This can be done by editing the file /etc/webmin/minisev.conf and adding the lines:

ssl=0
no_pam=1

Then trying to start it with 

/etc/webmin/start

I have updated my ports and run 'portmanager' to insure that 
everything was up to date. From what I can tell, there are no 
missing modules that Webmin would need.

What I do not understand is why Perl is core dumping. I have the 
perl.core dump file, but I have no idea what to do with it.

I am at a complete loss as to what to do next. I am not about to 
dump my system and start over. I spent too much time getting my 
mail server, etc. up and running.
