I get the version by checking for a special definition in the module's .pm file ($VERSION I think). However, not all Perl modules define it, and it is not mandatory.

FC3 dev 1.225 of webmin

while checking for latest versions i came across a minor issue, how do you
get the version number of perl modules installed. a few are not listing
their versions.

or is it not *required* for all modules to reveal their version.
