    Hi All,

I'm trying to setup Webmin to use OpenLDAP Server version 2.3.43-3.el5 for Webmin user authentication. I've read through the Web Users Module document and various Google hits, but with no clear direction on how to set it up. I realize that this option is new in Webmin 1.530 and may not have been documented yet, so I'm looking for pointers on how to set this up properly.

I have tried or done the following…

Configured the LDAP server and included the Webmin.schema file.
Configured and verified functionality in LDAP Client Module
Configured and verified functionality in LDAP Users and Groups Module, including adding a system user to the LDAP database.

I believe my problem may be related to option syntax in the "User and Groups Database" portion of the Webmin Users Module. Using the options below, I get the error "Failed to save user and group database settings : Unknown user database type"

    Hostname: localhost
    Connection Encryption: None
Username: cn=Manager,dc=example,dc=com (I've also tried tried just "Manager")
    Password: *scrubbed*
Create DN:  ou=webminAuth,dc=example,dc=com (Which exists in the database)
    Object Class for Users: webminUser
    Object Class for Groups: webminGroup

Radio Buttons "Use LDAP Server" and "Add new users to database selected above " are toggled

I would like to keep system users\groups and webmin users\groups separate, by placing Webmin Users in ou=webminAuth,dc=example,dc=dom. Since I'm building a case to use Webmin, the install I have is for testing purposes only.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I found the issue. The password contained special characters. Specifically, 2 @ symbols. I'll look into why and fix it when I have some free time. Unless of course, it's fixed before then.

I'm in the same boat, it looks like there's a mechanism or two that's not working correctly with my version of LDAP. If you happen to figure this out ,post your solution and I'll do the same!
