I always have had problems with the UTF-8 spanish lang in webmin so I have been using the (ES) option without problem until now, but with the 1.940 upgrade upgrade all the symbols are being showed incorrectly, either in the UTF-8 or in the ES lang.

Thank you.

Which browser are you using there, and on which OS?

    Hello Jamie and thank you.

    I have tryed

    firefox 70.0
    Chromium Versión 78.0.3904.70
    in archlinuc with es_ES.UTF8 locale

    and firefox 70.0
    windows desktop.

now I have forced UTF8 in "Webmin -> Webmin configuration -> Lang -> Character set for HTML pages" and some text is showed now correctly but another ones are showing strange scape characters in the options menú.

Attached the LANG config and the strange scape characters.

Unfortunately I can't re-produce this. Can you post a screenshot of the "Webmin -> Webmin configuration -> Lang" page on your system?

    hello Jamie,

sure. I'm going to attach four images, the named files with "html" suffix and without this suffix. Because the issue is different either I select "Juego de caracteres para páginas HTML" in the lang config.

    Thank you.

Does it make any difference if you turn off the last option to use the language specified in your browser?

    Hello Jamie,

sorry, I did not refresh. Changing to not use the browser language, it change the issue from submenus to menús.

I mean, with the language "specified in your browser" set to No, it fails in principal menú options characters much like in the menu-issues.png image attached before. Same like I unchek the html force utf-8 option.

With the "language specified in your browser" option set to yes, I can see fine the principal menús characters but then the submenús characters fail, like in the menu-issues-with-html.png image attached before.

    Thak you.

I'm still trying to re-produce this. Does it happen for you if you run the same browser on another operating system?

    Hello Jamie,

yes it happen in firefox in my desktop and laptop with Arch Linux and in Firefox in Windows 10.

It's much like the conversion to UTF8 was happening twice before print the chars in the screen. And here are two things,

With the config "Juego de caracteres para páginas HTML" set to "Determinado por el idioma": Then the global menu and forms chars fails but the submenu chars are correctly printed.

With the config "Juego de caracteres para páginas HTML" forced to "UTF-8": then the global menu and forms chars are correctly printed but the submenu chars fails.

It's like here was two differents mechanics to print chars in the screen, the one to print submenu chars and another one to print all others chars.

    Thank you.

If you keep exactly the same browser and language config but switch to Gray Theme, do you get the identical issue or it's getting printed correctly?

    Hello Ilia,

it happens with "Gray Framed Theme" (this is the one I use for default) and in the new "authentic theme".

    Thank you.
