#5283 Webmin = GCP = Not working

Hello

I just installed Webmin and i like the interface but ther is so many problemes that you need to fix before this software run 100% perfect on a google cloud platform and server.

1. When i read install instructions that i followed i get error. later i see under after all instrtion how to install i need other modules installed before install webmin? Logic? answer is not very logic because that instructions should bee on TOP not at BOTTOM of the install instructions.
2. I fixed first problem sign in and upload a file for extract in file manager NOT working. I read that i need install unzip and zip i install both and they are prefect intalled in root i checked with unzip -v command and eveything loksk good. I sign in to my webmin for test it but no extract funtion is visble? I was read in 3 hours and somoen talk about "path" about 100 times but never tell what "path" he talks about 1 time. so there was impossible fix this problem for me and i was give up totally.
3. I was try install standard modules but it says maybe i have wrong "path" again??? frustrating?? yes i wanted uninstall the entirely software and move on to another software because this guys have this problem 100 times in many forums i see already but still there is no good fix? I was try use the url for donwlaod and install a ftp modul and it was working but did the ftp module and settings show up on webmin? the answer is NO there was no FTP visible in webmin?
4. I was try change php setting. did it work? answer NO again not correct path again! so iwas manage find correct path and enter it for the first time it was working but extract and modules are still not visible

I think al lthis can bee fixed but why i ask my self why is this not working out from box on a very big company like google and they servers? why do i need read 24 hours about use file manager with exract and install modules that not visible and toher things. i totally exhausted and this is the last call before i leave webmin to someone explain why nothing have correct path and how i fix so everything working fully?

At first, how did you install Webmin, and just to be be sure, is your server OS Debian 9?

It seems that your installaton is missing on shared-mime-info package installed. What is the MIME type for the Zip file you are trying to unzip? (You can check MIME type by going to File Manager configuration and enabling Type for Columns to Display option (first option)).

I was try install standard modules but it says maybe I have wrong "path" again?

Which module are you trying to install?

Can you provide any screenshots?

I have just deployed Debian 9 instance on GCP and installed Webmin/Virtualmin using install.sh script. Everything works flawlessly out of the box.

The reason why it's not working for you out of the box, presumably, is because you installed it manually. I'd recommend using install script from Virtualmin website, and get fully working web-panel hasslefree.

Yes, this is absolutely normal as Webmin module requires pre-installed package on your system. In this particular case, make sure that wu-ftpd is installed, if not install it manually.

If you just want Webmin, you can follow the install instructions at http://www.webmin.com/deb.html to install using APT.

Jamie, that page should include shared-mime-info package as well as recommended dependency.

Okey i on my third attempt to install this software on a CLEAN GCP.

I was this time go for install Virtualmin from the page you was recommend me.

wget http://software.virtualmin.com/gpl/scripts/install.sh

sudo /bin/sh install.sh

Everything was installed perfect no errors i follow the instructions to open Virtualmin in a webbrowser.

Did it work? Answer is NO again....frustrated? answer is YES is this true or a dreaming?

Both the hist name with port 10000 and host ip with port 10000 did not working

host name says with port 10000:

This site can’t be reached "hostname" server IP address could not be found.
Try running Connectivity Diagnostics.
DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NXDOMAIN

only loading the page but nothing happens?

I have open port tcp 10000 in my googcloude firewall?

Please guys better instructions for people like me that try use your software on a google server

you put so much time make the software good but install instructions are not good at all

I do not know why i not give up but i feel the software when it up running is good

Try using IP:10000 to connect to the panel, not the hostname.

Yes i did try that, but page just loading and not stop loading and no errors shows in browser? i do not know how long time i need wait for the page load?

Now my server IP working but not the internal IP or the host name that was in the last instructions?

Possibly it takes some time for DNS records to be updated..
