No

Just installed webmin 1.8.4.0

Top constantly shows miniserv.pl at 60% or higher. When i use the web interface of webmin, cpu is always 100%.

This is constant. Even after a reboot or shutdown/restart of webmin.

I am on a raspberry pi zero W with current version of Jessie

Thanks

Joe

If it helps, after restart of webmin it slowly rises to the top cpu% It takes about 1 minute to reach the average of 60%

kworker is also running at 25% at thsi same time. When I stop webmin kworker goes down to 0.3%

i am installing perf to see what it tells me.

Are you doing anything in webmin when this happens, or does it happen all the time?

      All of the time.

It is constant from boot. Even if I don't touch webmin.

If you run strace -p on the webmin miniserv.pl process, what does it show it is doing?

The lines below are in an infinite loop.

192.168.1.207 is another linux machine that I have. The IP address of this
      one is 192.168.1.16

When I saw the .207 ip address I went and checked that machine and it was
      doing the same max CPU.

Also, I downgraded to 7.9 of webmin thinking that it might help.

It did not. So you are seeing the trace from 1.79

      Thanks

Another thing that I just noticed.

The webmin system information page on both machines shows minimal cpu usage
      for both user and core.

But on both machines, TOP shows 90+ usage for miniserv.pl

What load does the uptime command show?

    • Joe Morris

      Joe Morris - 2017-06-06

      Very strange.

Uptime shows very low cpu usages on both machines. But TOP shows the 99% for
      miniserv.pl

I can verify that the TOP is more accurate from a response time standpoint.
Very delayed responses with miniserv.pl running.

Try turning off background status collection in Webmin, at Webmin -> Webmin Configuration.

      Joe Morris - 2017-06-07

      It did not help.

I'm out of ideas then, sorry - I don't have similar hardware to test this on.

LOL, sorry. I did not look close enough.

Now it is Perl that has the high CPU.
