#4944 Webmin Cluster user synchronization not working in RHEL

i have tried the below steps on RHEL server with both webmin 1.690 and webmin 1.830 but unable ot achive my objection.
I have 2 servers , Server1 and Server2,. Both have same version of webmin.
In server1 i create a testuser, Then i go the cluster, refresh modules and user and then click on synchronize button so that this user is now present on both server1 and server2. Th screen displays that it has copied the user to server2 but in reality the testuser in only present in server1

Are either of the servers using something other than /etc/passwd to store users, like LDAP?

NO.. the users havethe password in miniserv.user. None of the users have password stored in LDAP or /etc/passwd

Can you post the exact output from the synchronization run?

Also, make sure the option to just show what would be done (rather than actually doing it) is not checked.

Below are the steps i am following with webmin 1.83

• click on webmin user
• create new webmin user "user1" .provide username, password as "set to" and select all for "Available MOdules"
• click on create
• logout from admin
• login as "user1"
• logout as "user1"
• login as admin
• click on cluster
• click on webmin cluster
• Servers
• click on "Refresh Modules and users"button
• click on synchronize button
• select all host,all missing users, all missing groups and no
• click on create users and groups
  No output on screen when option "NO" is used with new theme.

If i use the old webmin theme get the below output when I select "Yes" to "show what would be done?"

Copying ACL files for ron12 ..
.. done

Re-starting Webmin ..
.. done

Synchronizing server2..

Adding Webmin user user27_1 ..

Wait, so does it work OK when using the old theme? Or does it output those messages but still not create the users?

It displays the output but it does not create the users in the remote webmin server. Both with old and new theme the users are not getting in the remote server

We're about to release a new 1.840 version of webmin that includes many fixes - please give that a try, and let us know if the problem still happens.

What is the time frame when 1.840 shall be released?

Hi,

I had installed the latest package on our servers but the issue has still not been resolved.

The creation of user on the rmeote box now get stuck at "creating ACL"

Have you tried the 1.844 or 1.845 version?

I tried the webmin 1.850 released on June 28th. What i observed is - if I have the fast RPC mode set to Yes...I am able to creater user on the broadcasted webmin server with cluster synchrinoze button. But If I set the fast RPC to "no" ,the webmin screen on synchronizing users and groups using cluster get stuck at "Coping acl"

Is fast rpc mandatory for using the cluster module to synchronize user

Could you please respond to my query.I am able to create user in one webmin server and then use the synchronise button in cluster webmin server to create the user in the remote webmin servers onoly when fast rpc is set to "yes".

Why does it not worl when fast rpc is set to "no"?

Is there any logs you need which if I provide will help you analyse this issue.
