#2805 Can't stop SQUID

Hi there,

I am very new to webmin. I have learnt quite a bit on using SQUID in the Uni. Therefore I want to take the use of SQUID and apply it to the organisation I am currently working in.

At the start when I first use webmin. It was the most perfect thing - everything was so easy to manage (it still is). However, for some unknown reason SQUID stopped working.

From then on I can never start, stop, restart SQUID anymore. Everytime I type

service squid start
service squid stop
service squid restart

I always get the following error message

Failed to stop Squid :
2007/04/12 08:41:58| Squid is already running! Process ID 1656

Can anyone help me out on this?

Perhaps Webmin is looking in the wrong place for the Squid PID file, which it uses to check if Squid is running.
Click on the Module Config link, and make sure the path in the 'Full path to PID file' field is correct .. it should be something like /var/run/squid.pid , but may differ depending on how you installed Squid.
