    What does the command
    /ust/sbin/proftpd -v
    output on your system?

    With Webmin:

Das Programm /usr/sbin/proftpd scheint nicht der ProFTPd-
Server zu sein. Entweder ist er nicht installiert oder Ihre
    Modul-Konfiguration ist falsch. Ergebnis des
    Kommandos /usr/sbin/proftpd -v:

    On console:

    /usr/sbin/proftpd -v

    - ProFTPD Version 1.2.9

What if you try running that same /usr/sbin/proftpd -v
command in Webmin's Command Shell module?

What is the exact error message that appears in Webmin? It
should display the output from proftpd -v

The msg was (if i remember): Segmentation fault (core
    dumped)

That is the output message :(

That looks like an error from proftpd itself - a core dump
    oocurs when it crashes!
So clearly Webmin doesn't have much chance of working out
    the version number :-)

Euhhh my ProFTPD work very well ... I have configure
yesterday the proftpd.conf and then i have applied this
command -> /usr/local/sbin/proftpd start and everything work
well ! I have a virtual ftp server, a normal ftp server ...
Also i think that it's webmin that crashes :-)

Sorry but i don't say bad things
Also i don't know why webmin cannot start proftpd if i can
    myself !
Perhaps i must to delete the proftpd module and then
    reinstall this module ?

PS: Sorry for my English :D

Perhaps ProFTPd is only crashing when run under Webmin then ..
I'm not sure why this could be though.
